This verse portrays the great movement that had formed around Christ. The phrase “the whole city” shows how great the people’s need was and how quickly Jesus’ fame had spread. The crowd gathered at the door testifies that people were coming to Him with various needs, in order to find healing and help. Yet this outward approach still had to be transformed into inward faith. Many were coming for help, but the Gospel shows that a person’s greatest need is not only bodily healing, but the turning of the heart toward God.
